About Gatekeeper Systems
At most commercial service airports, controlling the high volume of ground
transportation and passenger vehicles that enter and exit airport facilities is
one of today’s most significant challenges. With air travel continuing to grow each year, vehicle congestion around
passenger terminals is increasing, making the allocation and management of
limited curbside space, parking areas, and roadways a continual juggling
act.
At the same time, increased operating costs and the fact that adding, expanding and
maintaining airport facilities is consuming more and more capital resources,
makes it imperative that airports efficiently develop and collect fees to
recover costs, as well as limit errors in fee calculation, minimize the potential
for fraud and optimize rate structures. Increased concern about airport security is also adding to the need to
monitor, track and control vehicles using airport facilities.
While in a different operating environment, trucking and rental car
companies, municipalities, medical centers, major universities and other large
campuses face the similar challenge of monitoring and controlling tens of
thousands vehicles a day. The stakes here are much the same — reducing
congestion, controlling capital expenditures, recovering operating costs and
increasing security.
Gatekeeper Systems Has The Solution
Gatekeeper Systems, Inc., (GSI), based in Eagan, MN, is a leader in integrated, real-time computer
systems for vehicle access control into and out of defined areas. The company currently
has developed two software applications, one for Commercial Vehicle Management
at airports and one for Parking Access Control.
GSI is among the first companies to provide a turnkey approach to airports and others for the
purchase and implementation of complete vehicle access control systems.
Software Products
Commercial Vehicle Management Software (CVMS) - A powerful tool that can significantly improve an airports
ability to make better utilization of available curb space, to create new sources of revenue from ground transportation operations
and to improve the customer service for passengers and providers. CVMS systems utilize Radio Frequency Identification technology
to dispatch, monitor, track, control, charge fees and record commercial vehicle operations.
Parking Access Control Software (PACS) - A fully scaleable software product that can be used to increase
security, space utilization, and/or revenues in parking facilities of all sizes. The software includes many complex features needed
for use in multi location and mixed-use facilities. The software is easily adaptable for use with a variety of “credentials”
including magnetic stripe and proximity cards as well as full RF transponders, in many cases eliminating the need to make any hardware
changes or modifications to existing systems.
Open Architecture
To address the rapidly changing marketplace for hardware and software products, GSI
has adopted an approach to developing its software that is aimed at providing
the utmost in flexibility to the user with the cost and reliability you have
come to expect from mass produced software products. This “open architecture”
approach also makes it much more feasible to integrate our software with other
popular products to simplify training and daily operations.
Management Team
We have a staff with extensive airport management experience, including ground transportation management. Our staff also has unequalled success in software development for commercial vehicle operations and parking access control to assure the maximum delivery of the benefits available from technology based systems.
Gatekeeper Systems brings
together a team of people with a proven record of accomplishment in developing
and installing computer-based systems that monitor, track and control the
movement of vehicles in defined areas. No other company in the marketplace offers Gatekeeper’s level of
expertise in developing integrated Commercial Vehicle Managment and Parking Access Control Systems.
Gatekeeper’s strong
knowledge and understanding of the objectives, problems and processes of
implementing vehicle access control systems in airport, parking and other
environments uniquely positions us to be capable of delivering all the
elements of a complete, cost-effective CVMS and PACS systems.
